Project
Havelock North House
Turning steep ground into usable, stylish, and safe spaces
Brief
A new residence on a steep Havelock North site. The brief was to turn challenging contours into level, usable indoor and outdoor space — without the structure dominating the slope or compromising the architectural intent.
Approach
The structural design coordinated retaining, foundation and superstructure as a single system. Loads from the upper levels resolve down through the slope in a deliberate, traceable load path rather than relying on retaining walls in isolation.
Outcome
The house gives the owners level living, terraces and parking on a site that previously offered very little of any. Completed mid-2025.
